I expect that all students be active and independent learners with an interest in their own success. I strive to promote learning that produces critical thinkers, problem solvers, academic risk takers, and effective communicators.
I expect you to see you every day on time to my class with a positive attitude. I expect you to do more writing than you ever have before. I expect you to try new things. I expect you to be Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to learn. I expect each of you to be polite, prepared, prompt, and productive. Most of all, I expect you to simply try your best. Assignments:You will access your class assignments via Classlink and Google Classroom.
With all assignments, you are expected to try your best and give effort. If you need extra help or support, please reach out to any teacher. We are here to help! Assignments will NOT be considered done until they are turned in. Late assignments will NOT be accepted after a week past due. Student Emails:Please know that if you ask a question via email after we leave the building for the day, we may not respond until the next morning. Grading:Category Percentage_________________
Classwork 35% Quizzes 20% Tests/Projects/Essays 30% Participation/Effort 10% Homework 5% *Includes discussion, group work, behavior, etc. * If you are doing your work daily and giving your BEST effort, you will do well in this class. I believe….the purpose of grading is to provide an assessment of student progress, mastery, and needs. It is felt that the most effective tool for assessment is independent growth. This growth may be evaluated through diagnostic means, formative assessments, summative assessments, rubrics, observation, parallel tasks, classwork, and participation. How actively engaged you are in your learning process during class is important and does affect you overall grade. If you choose to not do work or behave in a disruptive manner, you will adversely affect your grade. On the other hand, positive and engaging behavior will help boost your grade. Please be a positive member of this class. |
